I appreciate your coverage of how Lee’s Drill Baby Drill Gang is impacting the most vulnerable, the Indian tribes ability to get water, hold on to sacred sites, etc. Speedy permitting is not only short sighted in this case but cruel and destructive. Have these power hungry (all senses of those words) walk in Navajo moccasins for a week.

I’ve had it with the ‘abundance bros’…..

Ah, slow down and pay attention sounds like a really good idea AND put some penalties behind it!

How about around and inside our National Parks etc? Possibly could cut down on human and animal deaths. The idea that someone would stop to "watch the rocks falling" really tells the lack of common sense throughout this country!

In regards to HWY 550 over Red Mountain pass, I agree that people need to pay more attention while driving, but sometimes they need to speed the hell up instead of coming to a stop to "watch the rocks falling"...I also think it would be a good idea to seal up the mine openings that look like fun places to explore. Us humans need all the help we can get.

Given that CO has among the 10 lowest gas/diesel taxes and the feds haven't raised theirs in 25 years, where are the $s going to come from to "fix" Red Mtn Pass. I just drove to Denver and some wild multilane overpasses are being built curving through the air about 200' above the Clear Creek Canyon exit. It looks like it's could be consuming about half the state highway budget.

Just building a few shoulders on some easier patches might be nice. E.g. From Big B's into Paonia. If we wanted French style mountain roads as showcased each year in the amazing video coverage of Le Tour we would have French fuel taxes. About $0.75 per LITER.

Both sides in 'expedited permitting' have valid concerns.

While realizing the readership of this substack is probably similar to that of HCN, and is thus culturally congruent with regulations, protections, no progress and especially no change, I strongly welcome this legislation. Ezra Klein was correct.
