Down here in NM it is stunningly dry. There is nothing at all on the ground here in Taos. The mountain is bare. The ski valley is getting by just on what they can make. And warm. Yesterday...January 2, I worked outside in tshirt for several hours. But it's really the dryness that has me blown away. If this keeps up, we will be on fire come April. I'm getting nervous.

Also. It's rather irritating to me that Biden....like Obama ... is waiting until the very last minute to designate national monuments making them more likely to face court challenges or even reversals. That's dumb. Why not a year ago? Two years ago? We've been pushing him in Caja del Rio here in NM for several years. Why wait until the last minute?

Agreed. Both Obama and Biden may have been holding off until after the election so as not to ruffle too many feathers, but then again, Obama only pissed off Utahns, and they were never going to vote for Hillary anyway. And I don't think Biden would have lost any voters for Kamala by designating any of the proposed national monuments, especially these ones. So it makes no sense, really. Similarly, Biden's also only now getting around to banning offshore drilling; doing that a year ago would have earned him far more support from the climate hawks. Sometimes I don't know what these people are thinking ...

I guess its same old, same old when it comes to the democrats. Apparently they just never learn or comprehend that maybe doing the same thing over and over and over and expecting a different outcome somehow never works out.

I don't like being a day trader when it comes to mid season snowpack levels...to much oscillation. Record snowfall one week, then a month later, below average. I invest for the long haul and my ouija board says long term precipitation deficits and increasing heating and desertification.

Having lived for many years in the Sonoran desert I couldn’t pass up the link to the Sonoran Avalanche Center. Someone has dedicated serious time and thought to this delightful, much needed satire (I can think of a few of your fictional characters who might run such an online business from some wood-stove heated backyard shed.) The San Bernardo de Tucson coozie is tempting, I’ve got to say. Thanks for sharing the link 🏂

I read somewhere about "bringing water to Az". Oh goody a pipeline from where? Which government grifter has a buddy that will make money from this debacle?

There's a forest fire at 7000 ft. near Payson. Unheard of, of course. I truly wonder how long our pine forests will last, they're already showing signs of stress.
