You might give some thought to covering any ongoing efforts being made to introduce new legislation in Congress that will allow us to escape that "back and forth" pattern of executive action on monuments created by presidential proclamation under the Antiquities Act. Granted, an extremely long shot at the moment, but at some future point we may have a Congress that is willing to think outside the current box. Has anyone developed draft legislation of that type? Of course, there will be lots of time and effort put into legal campaigns, and that probably makes sense in the current moment, but we need to start thinking, and start working, on a plan to establish a different system. BTW, on a different point, a Utah family of five was killed in a tragic canyoneering accident, near Bicknell, just outside of Capitol Reef.
Scott: It is definitely a long shot now, but yeah, I think it is necessary for Congress to take action on these national monuments, if only to end the back and forth. I guess another way it could end is if the Supreme Court rules that the Antiquities Act does not allow a president to undo a national monument. But they could also rule the other way.
Oh, and I did mention the tragedy with the family of five killed by the flash flood in Sunglow Canyon. Terrible.
