I can’t decide what’s more disgusting and counterintuitive … the conspicuous consumption and conspicuous waste … or the refusal to admit unlimited growth and development are the culprits.
Another illuminating piece! Thanks. A comment on the first article about Powell Reservoir (it is not a lake): too bad the USBR did not consider the alternative of removing the dam. A comment on the second article: We might have a microcosm with so many houses (though few mansions) built with the need to haul water for life (e.g.,The Dry side). I don't backpack for one night without having water!
I am disappointed that the Abzug/Hayduke (McVeigh/Mason?) Alternative wasn’t included in the list of options. Maybe it’s time to implement the citizen-lead plan. Who has a houseboat we can borrow? I guess there is the possibility that drilling tunnels in saturated sandstone will default to the same state...
Soooo - you have to haul water and PAY for it but its necessary to have a swimming pool - in the DESERT? Sorry - the selfishness of these "residents" is beyond me. Its far past time for municipalities to do something about the urban sprawl rather than just welcome the tax money.

Did I mis-read or imagine The Land Desk mention an option to fill Lake Mead first ?
