And whatever snow is left in the Colorado River watershed is likely to melt pretty quickly given the high winds, dust, and warm temperatures. Check out this satellite image of fire smoke and dust.

It basically makes for a non-stop aridification watch. Blargh. So, I figured I’d put some pretty pictures up here, instead. The first person who correctly identifies each picture (as specified in the respective captions), will get a free year-long Land Desk paid-subscription for themselves or a friend of their choice. That is to say: There are THREE free subs up for grabs here, folks!

Name that mountain range and the approximate location where I was standing when I took the picture. Jonathan P. Thompson photo.

Put your answers in the comments section, please!

Tell me what this is, where it is, and who the artist is (gotta have all three to win!). Jonathan P. Thompson photo.

#2 looks like the butte just north of Corral Pocket, right off of UT-211 between Creek Pasture and Lockhart Basin rds... pointed south with North Six Shooter on the right, South Six Shooter on the right, Lavender Point in the middle, and the Abajo Mts as a wonderful backdrop!
