This is an innovative water conservation story out of Norwood involving algae blooms and evaporation. I'm a proud aunt; the main source in it is my niece :-).

What a great idea and you sure should be proud of your niece! What those kids (I'm old) are doing says much about the younger generation, doesnt it? They are making all of us proud.

Surprising agreements between various parties to get more water to Great Salt Lake. Scientists and environmentalists, of course. Now including Governor Cox, Republican legislators, the Mormon Church, people with deep pockets (Gayle Miller family auto group, the family that owns Maverik gas stations, and the Marriotts have each pledged $10 million), Josh Romney … and now Donald Trump listed a billion $ in his budget proposal after his former producer of The Apprentice got him and the governor together (story on a recent Radio West). The state recently bought MagCorp, with its water rights. My son Ben is the executive director of the Grow the Flow advocacy group. There is a cooperative newspaper organization sharing stories about the lake. No saline lake in this state of decline has ever been saved.

Crush Drink Photo. Back in the sixties I remember artist Andy Warhol. He sold a painting of a Campbell’s Tomato soup can for over nine million dollars. I wonder if your picture of the Crush Orange drink can is destined for the same outcome. Better get out your artist paints – I see millions in your future.

Other story ideas. There is a large area of ruins that is not in public ownership but is of great interest to the tribes and the Bears Ears Partnership. It lies east of the road that runs N from Bluff to Blanding to Monticello. I don't remember the name of the area but it was evidently a major cultural area back when. Heard about it at a Bears Ears Partnership confab in Bluff.

Second idea-maybe not your basin but close! The Rio Grande water situation is dire. No water in Heron and Vado reservoirs-I think these are part of the Rio Grande-Chama project. They get trans basin diversions from Colorado state......And there is another dam that needs repair and they are having trouble getting this organized-Elephant Butte? South of the Middle Rio Grande Conservation District there are big water shortages I think. Side issue-how does Bosque del Apache get so much lovely water for their Sandhill Cranes? Great place, 2 big off-channel lakes. It's a huge pile of water for that part of NM. Sorry if I got the details here wrong. Love the Land Desk.
